The Horse's Mouth: vox1
Title: vox1
Length: 3:00
File Size: 3.44MB
Production Date(s): April 30, 2007
Gear used: Reason, Cubase, M-Audio Ozone, Shure SM-57
Notes: This is a piece made up entirely of samples of my voice/mouth. I sat in front of a microphone last night and made funny noises for about 5 minutes. The resulting track eventually became the 21 different samples that make up this tune. I used only minimal effects, mostly EQ and pitch shifting. The whole thing took about 4 hours. Incidentally, the thing that sounds like a belch is not actually a belch.

It Begins: ANTM
Title: ANTM
Length: 5:41
Production Date(s): late Spring, 2006
Gear used: Reason, Cubase, Nord Lead 2
Notes: One day last spring my (recent) ex-girlfriend called me up asking if I wanted to go watch America's Next Top Model with her -- ya know, for old times' sake or something. I do not regret declining, for many reasons, not the least of which is that instead I decided to spend the night (and the next couple of nights) in the studio making this track. Inspired largely by Spring Heel Jack, I attempted to push the limits of Reason. I think there ended up being 30 or 40 modules in the rack by the time I was finished. The only non-Reason track is the delayed synth line that comes in at 1:50, which was performed on the Nord Lead.
Hello World
Welcome! My name is Jon, and through this outlet I hope to produce an average of one music production piece (i.e. "Jam") per week. To get the ball rolling I'm starting with something I made last year. The offerings will likely remain mostly electronic in nature for now, as I'm still working on getting my home studio up and running.
